Why we exist
Tellus’ mission is to rapidly protect and restore nature at scale.
We want to build a world where nature and human societies flourish together.
We believe the ‘ecosystem services’ delivered by natural environments are a public good which should be valued, maintained and invested in. In the last ten years the rapid advance of the twin crises of climate change and biodiversity loss have put this public good under threat.
We founded Tellus to be a solution to the funding crisis affecting environmental projects worldwide and the lack of clear pathways for how both the public and the private sector can help. Only 11% of protected areas report adequate funding, even though financing is the main variable for success.
Tellus acts as a bridge between organisations seeking high quality environmental projects and natural asset owners seeking long term sustainable funding. We make this effective bridge between these two groups by breaking down complex geographies and governance issues with an on the ground approach.
